SportsNation Rudy Gay: Thanks for the questions everyone, I'm going to answer them as best I can.
Parker (Memphis,TN): Rudy, we love you here in Memphis so much! I watched you on Saturday night, and I was wondering, if you had made it to the final round of the contest, what would have been your championship dunk?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I had a pretty special one planned. Iw as going to have someone hold the ball for me under the basket, I'd grab it, and put it through my legs and dunk on the other side. It's about strategy now. I was thinking about getting to the second round with my first dunk.
Brendan (NJ): Hey Rudy whats up? Obviously your NBA career is still young, but what has been the most memorable thing to happen to you so far since you first hit the hardwood?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I'd have to say the shot I had against San Antonio. We walked off the court as winners, and it was a great feeling.
Sims (Memphis, TN): Did you like training camp in Spain?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: It was definitely different. It was tough to have training camp in a different country, what with the food, language barrier, and two-a-days. But it was a great experience.
nastradamus (Europe): Hi Rudy, what¨s your pick for 2008 NBA finals?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: Obviously Boston, because they haven't been able to be stopped until now, but Detroit has a chance of doing it as well.
James (PA): Rudy, what are your thoughts on the Pau Gasol trade? How is Javaris fitting in in Memphis?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I think we all knew what was going to happen as far back as last year. In the future, we can be a better team because of it. Javaris is a great talent. All it takes is a little bit of time, kind of like how it did with me.
Marc (IN): Rudy, your progression has been very impressive to watch. What do you feel has allowed you to have so much success this season?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: For one, I was given a chance. There are a lot of talented players out there who never got a chance. My teammates have been a great help, and I had an excellent work ethic over the summer.
Brian (Memphis): What aspect of your game do you need to improve to be playing on Sunday during All-Star weekend?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I think there's a lot of things I can work on. The team isn't where we want it to be. I can't pinpoint exactly which thing needs the most work, but it's something I have to think about in the near future.
Christian (North Vancouver, B.C.): Rudy, Which of your teammates is the best-dressed, and which is the worst?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I'd say I'm the best-dressed, for sure. The worst on our team would have to be Hakim Warrick.
Michael (CT): Hey Rudy, Have you following UConn games lately? Have ya talk to your coach Calhoun lately? Go UCONN!
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I definitely talk to Coach Calhoun a lot. Every time he sees me on TV, he'll give me a call. I gotta follow my Huskies, and all the UConn alums in the league keep in touch and watch every game.
Quentin (Orange, CA): Memphis obviously sees you as the franchise player. How are you adjusting to you're increased role in the offense, and soon as THE leader on the team?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I think it's an adjustment, having all the focus on me. In the near future, I have to get better and focus on different things, including scoring more.
Tori (Jonesboro, AR): What did you think of Dwight's show on Saturday?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: Dwight was Dwight--he was in the zone. He likes to do a lot of things for the crowd. But that one dunk--he didn't dunk it! That's the first ever layup in the dunk contest.
NYC: Hi Rudy, who was your basketball hero growing up? And who do you pattern your game to?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: Growing up, it was Michael Jordan. My game is of course somewhat different. I patterned my game after a lot of different players.
Amidu (Cameroon): Hey Rudy, are you a big video gamer and if so what games do u play and on which system?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I play Call of Duty,2k8, and Live. I have a Playstation 3 and an XBox 360.
Sims (Memphis, TN): Who's your best friend on the team?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: We have a crew. We have a whole crew of young guys who stick together. It's me, Andre Brown, Kyle, and Hakim. We're a pretty close team overall.
Isaac (Fresno, CA): Hi Rudy, like to know what is your take on the future of the Memphis Grizzlies and how ypu will go about your business while the franchise rebuilds itself up?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I think it's pretty bright. We have a lot of young players, and I take a lot of pride in what this team does. It'll take a lot from me to make this team better.
Greg (Houston, Tx): Rudy, who's the toughest defender in the NBA to go against?
SportsNation Rudy Gay: I'd say the obvious would be Bruce Bowen.
SportsNation Rudy Gay: Thanks for allowing me all this time. Changes are going to come in Memphis!
