费德勒展现自己的才华
瑞士人击溃阿根廷新星的挑战闯入马德里大师赛四强

The Swiss player overcame the Del Potro challenge to reach the semi-finals in Madrid
 Roger Federer has his sights set on the title of the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid. Few can debate that the former World No. 1 is a strong favourite. After qualifying for the semi-finals, the Swiss is one step closer to achieving his goal. He demonstrated his authority against Juan Martin Del Potro in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, in a match lasting one hour twenty-six minutes.Before the start of the tournament, Federer spoke of how weary he has become towards the end season but it seems that a spring is brought to his step, just by stepping out on these courts. It makes him forget about all the battles he has survived so far. At the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid quarter-finals, Federer had a tough test in the form of Juan Martin Del Potro. The Argentine managed four titles this year, (Washington, Los Angeles, Kitzbuhel and Stuttgart), strung 22 consecutive victories together and has become a strong candidate for the Masters Cup in Shanghai. Nonetheless, this form does not seem to be sufficient when he comes across Federer. His flat game doesn’t manage to disconcert the Swiss player as opposed to Nadal’s spins. For his part, Roger Federer resorted to sliced backhands, forcing Del Potro’s feet back onto the ground, even though the Argentine is 1.98m and previously had not any unforced errors on these types of strokes. The technical battle also went Federer’s way. The way the first set concluded was mind boggling. Del Potro conceded his serve during the eighth game after making a double fault and next thing he failed to take advantage of the sole break point that he had throughout the match. That was the beginning of the end for the Argentine, who had previously defeated David Nalabandian, the tournament’s last champion, to be where he was. He was once again broken during the eighth game of the second set, definitely giving the match away to Federer. The Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid will take place from 11th to 19th October on the courts of the Casa de Campo trade fair park.
